Export pallets must be treated in accordance with the mandate of ISPM-15 and comply with the IPPC (International Plant Protection Convention) regulations for exporting.
Southern Pallets are accredited with the Ministry for Primary Industries to apply the registered certification mark to export pallets.
Two approved methods exist for the treatment for export pallets:
- Heat Treatment
Southern Pallets exclusively manufacture all new export pallets from kiln dried, heat treated timber. Heat from the kiln drying process serialises the timber from infestations.
- Methyl Bromide Fumigation
Southern Pallets use Methyl Bromide for the treatment of recycled and second-hand pallets that are required for export use. Methyl bromide is a gas that sterilises the timber from infestations.
